It’s a phone app for an Indian family. Not a personal to-do list — the whole household shares one. Mom, dad, kids, grandparents, even the maid or driver if you have them. Each person sees what’s relevant to them, no more, no less.

It remembers the small things so nobody has to carry them in their head. The electricity bill due Friday. The cooking gas that’s almost over. The 14-day countdown to Diwali shopping. The maid’s salary paid on the 5th. Your father’s doctor’s appointment next month. The detergent running low. Your daughter’s school fee deadline.

You talk to it the way you’d talk to a sensible household manager. Type or say “milk eggs detergent and pay school fees by Friday” — Apna Angan figures out what’s a grocery item, what’s a bill, what’s a task. It puts them in the right place. Anyone in the family can do this from their own phone.

Two versions

Free — just you, your own life, forever. Tasks, bills, groceries, pantry, recipes, calendar, the 35-festival countdown, Drive backup, biometric lock. No paywall hovering over you. No degraded experience designed to push you up. Free is genuinely useful for one person managing their own life — indefinitely.

Premium — your whole household. ₹99/month for the first year, ₹149/month from year two. Two months free at the start, once per household, ever. One subscription covers four to six family members plus Crew. Per person, that’s effectively ₹16-30/month — less than any comparable Indian SaaS.

Premium adds the parts that only matter when the whole household is involved: voice + ten Indian languages, the morning Daily Story, the Predictive Engine, Crew dignity surfaces, Life Admin tracking, multi-admin, sync across the family’s devices.

What makes it different from every other family app

Your data lives on your phone. Backup goes to your own Google Drive, encrypted with your password. There’s no Apna Angan server holding your family’s life. We don’t read your data because we can’t.

AI is included, but optional. One toggle in Settings turns AI off entirely. Tasks, bills, reminders, recipes still work. Kids never get AI. Crew never gets AI. By design — child safety baseline for kids, dignity-and-scope for Crew. Even the household founder can’t override those defaults.

It just works. Tasks, bills, reminders, recipes, 35 Indian festivals — they all live on your phone. The AI extras (voice, morning briefing, predictive nudges) layer on top when you want them.

Crew dignity. If a maid or cook or driver works in your home, Apna Angan respects them. They have their own simple view, can decline a task, take leave, and the system tracks it without making them feel small.

How AI is paced — calm, predictable, never greedy

Daily AI quota refills automatically at midnight every day — plenty for typical household use. A free monthly bonus lands on the 1st of every month. Most households never run out.

If your family uses AI heavily, optional one-time top-ups (₹29, ₹49, ₹99) extend the quota for ninety days. No auto-renew. No subscription stacking. Pay once, use it up, done. Most households never need a top-up.

When the daily quota’s used up, Apna Angan calmly takes the rest of the day off — “Tasks, bills, recipes, Tell Angan by typing — all still work. Refills at midnight.” That’s the whole message. No “BUY MORE” pop-up. No interrupted workflow.

A calm Today, not a noisy one

The Today screen is intentionally minimal on day one. Tell Angan what you need, see a three-line digest of what matters this morning, and move on. One feature unfolds per day for the first two weeks — gently, not as a cumulative pile of tutorials. By the end of the second week, the household knows the surface area without ever feeling cumbersome.

When you do want everything visible, “Show me everything” is one tap away. Settings → Today screen toggles between calm and full.

Crew, treated with respect

Domestic workers are real members of the household. Apna Angan calls them Crew — not Helpers, not Staff. Crew can decline tasks with a reason. Crew can leave a household without losing their account. The Sunday Crew Report shows the home what was done, what wasn’t, and why.

Pay isn’t tracked as a rounding error. It’s tracked respectfully, with escalation cadence on leave clusters and a dignity-first interface designed to be readable on a low-end phone.

Life Admin, finally tracked

Aadhaar, PAN, passport, voter ID, driving licence, KYC, insurance, nominees, school certificates, vehicle papers, society documents. Indian households juggle more than twenty load-bearing documents. Apna Angan tracks expiry dates and surfaces them on a 90 / 30 / 7-day ladder before the renewal scramble. One screen, one flat list, one gentle reminder.

Festivals built into the rhythm

Thirty-five festivals across multiple faiths come pre-loaded — Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Holi, Onam, Pongal, Karva Chauth, Navratri, Bakrid, Lohri, Pateti, Buddha Purnima, and more. Opt into the ones your home celebrates. Each one carries an opt-in prep checklist (clean, sweets, gifts, lights) that materialises tasks two weeks before, not the morning of.

The languages your family actually speaks

Voice + text input in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Malayalam, and English. Tell Angan in whatever language opens its mouth in your home — including the Crew’s. Voice hand-off lets a non-literate family member dictate a task by holding the phone for ten seconds.

The non-English packs are AI-drafted today and marked beta. We flag mistranslations in-app via a single tap and patch monthly.

The deeper why

Indian households run on someone’s memory. Usually a mother. Or an elder daughter. Bills, festivals, birthdays, school runs, the maid’s payment, the LPG cylinder, the relatives coming for Sunday lunch. That’s invisible work — unpaid, exhausting, falls on one person.

Apna Angan flips it. The app becomes the courtyard — aangan — that everyone in the family naturally gathers around. You stop being the household secretary. You go back to being a person.
